Summer Vacation 2015: Dolores, And That Galloping Goose...And Driving In The Country

Jeff and Kent went on a morning hike, up at Lizard Head Pass trail, and took some beautiful pictures. Little girl and I hung out at the trailer, until they returned. Then we took our drive to Dolores, and actually got out of the truck, and stopped at the old Rio Grande Southern Depot, which happens to also be a really cool museum. An ol' timer chatted us up, about the Galloping Goose, and he allowed us inside that! A first for us! Kent loved the HO scale model, of Dolores, in its heyday,  inside the depot, so of course I took a picture of that. We then carried on our way, and took a beautiful scenic route, through the farm/ranch lands, in the Dolores, Mancos, Cortez outer areas. I've never seen the big mills and silos here on this side of the San Juans range, of the Rocky Mountains; and most of them look like antiques, sitting there all quiet, on display. A different perspective and different beauty to see. We checked out the second largest reservoir in Colorado, called the "McPhee Reservoir." That was absolutely beautiful as well, with the mountains in the distant background. This state always takes my breath away with beautiful scenery. Back at the campground, the kids and I hung out, while Jeff took a before dinner hike, across from the campground, along the canyon, about an 800 ft. climb in elevation, and he was able to see the campground and spotted out trailer...yes, he did take a picture of it. Pretty awesome. Now I sit by the fire...blogging.
