A Snow Day. It Has Been A Long Time Coming!

The kids are having a grand ol' time today. With Kent getting to stay home from school and all. So Mr. Kent already did his shoveling duties, and has been playing inside and out. The latest thing they are up to, Kent and Samantha are playing Wii Sports Resort. It's cute. Curly is sitting on the couch watching his brother and sister play. Even cuter. I also took some pictures of my latest new things for our home. I say "new," but in fact, I bought these at an antique store. I have an old butcher block island, sized nicely for our small kitchen, and I LOVE IT. There are some wear and tear on the butcher block, but that is what I love about it. I also bought an old 40s white enamel drink cart, and an old yellow bread box (which is sitting on top). I am a girl that loves old bread boxes. The mail box screwed on the wall, I have already had, among the other things in the picture. So it has all pulled together nicely! I love antique, vintage, retro items. Good times.

It is Pappy's Birthday! Yee-haw!!!

Happy birthday to our wonderful Pappy! You deserve a great birthday with lots of good food, non-chocolate desserts, and of course, lots and lots of love! Wish we could be with you today to celebrate your day. We love and miss you so much. Happy birthday!

February 24th. First Day Our Water Truck Is In Water Action.

It's pretty nice. Here we are, Friday afternoon, and Jeff is off work early (all that over time)! So today is the day he wanted to test out our water truck. Why not? It is sunny and moderate, on this late February afternoon. So he went off to the watering hole, which is right next to our gas station for Parks, just about a mile down the road. He was there for a while...it is a huge tank and a super slow pump, which the watering hole has. Jeff said he encountered a couple other people wanting to get water for their smaller tanks; but they took one look at that 1200 gallon tank, and drove right back around from where they came from! When he rolled back in front of our house, I immediately wanted to take pictures of this "first" with our vintage water truck! It has a tiny leak in the base somewhere, but nothing too extreme; and the force of that water pouring out of that hose...wow! This is so awesome! We even offered to give my friend Adi, who lives right down the road, some of the extra water we still had, after our tank was over flowing...but alas...the water guy was at her house filling up her tank. Such is life. So yep! There you all have it! A working water truck!!!

It's Law-Dog's Birthday!!!!

Happy Birthday to Jeff, my lovin' man! The poor guy has to work on his birthday, but tonight I plan on cooking him up some darn good supper; some apple crisp for dessert (at his request); and maybe there will be a gift in the mix as well (of course there is a gift)! Jeff turns 39 years old today, and in my opinion, better than ever! Jeff is one awesome man, husband to me, and father to our kiddos. I would be so lost without him. God knew what he was doing, when he brought us together! So to you my Law-Dog, today we celebrate your birth, and you deserve to have some "birthday bliss" today! You're a daily blessing in my life! I love you!

On another note...I took a picture of my original cds I am taking to the Riordan Mansion, later this afternoon. The wonderful park ranger, Mary, works this afternoon, so now I can FINALLY drop off my cds, to sell in the visitor center. I really like the paper I chose to make the cases. It's spring like, with elegance. I also took pictures of the latest pins I have created. The wheels are always turning.

Tomorrow evening we will have Dad and Mom Stafford arriving, for a weekend together. They are coming out to celebrate Jeff's birthday. So that will be really special. The kids are pretty darn excited too! There is the latest! I will be taking some pictures this evening, of our birthday boy. He can't escape me, and my camera...then me posting on the blog! Ha!

You Better Believe It.

Okay. We are now owners of a 1951 Chevy water truck. Jeff got a stinkin' good deal (which he found on Craigslist). We went to check it out today, and it checked out okay, for a 1951 water truck. Obviously it is a little rusty, and paint chipping, etc. but the point of this truck is for...WATER. The guy was asking only $1000 for it, and my husband, yes, that would be my Law-Dog, got it for $700. It was extremely slow going, getting home, from all the way as far east in Flagstaff as you can get. The old truck can only go up to 45 mph. So I was following Jeff in our FORD ;o), following him with the hazard blinkers on, and sure enough, we made it home. Jeff says this is his Birthday present. So Happy Birthday Law-Dog! I must say, I love the look of it. I enjoy the 50s style trucks. They are pretty classic. I told Jeff we should paint it that classic dark green, one day. Now that would look snazzy. So this is a very practical buy, for where we live. We can go get our 1200 gallons (that's how big that tank is on that truck), and fill up our tank for our home...oh yeah...and the future pond! Heehee! Good times.

It's Curly. Trapped behind a closed door. Oh the misery. Somebody just let him out already, (don't worry, I already did)!   :o)

Colds, Teeth, Ponds, and A Cone for Curly.

It's Friday, and I am finally starting to feel better. I have that stupid tickle cough that will last a lifetime. You know, to where you are coughing so much, your ribcage feels like it has been punched, Yeah. But I have been sleeping very well the last three nights, thanks to NyQuil and our Vicks warm humidifier. So far Jeff has managed to stay healthy, and the kids had their "little" colds before I received mine. I am feeling for Jeff right now,though, because this morning he has to go to the dentist, to have his permanent crown split open (to remove), and filed down to nothing. He has had more problems with this one tooth. A few weeks ago he had the permanent one placed, and I guess it was excruciating. Turns out the crown was a misfit, and oh, I guess we need to remove it to build yet another one. Jeff knew there was something wrong, because he said he could feel it "leaking." Talk about uncomfortable. Jeff has gone through the ringer with the dentist, yet he still is a champ, considering all the pain and frustration he has encountered. He is a much better person with pain than I ever could be. Jeez. Our family and teeth. What the frick?

 Lets see, on a positive note...Jeff is building a HUGE pond in our back acres. Well, he can only really build up the dam, in certain areas, as of now, due to the ground being frozen. But what an awesome project to take on. It will be so amazing! It will be right next to the tracks, and our big natural boulders. The design is the layout of the land. Jeff has been researching ponds, koi fish, plant habitat for our zoning, for weeks. He wants to do this all right, so no regrets later. You talk about a little paradise, when this will be all done and complete. It's going to take time, but we will have a pond this late Spring, early Summer.

As for Curly, I had to put his "cone" around his head again, last night. He has been after he eyes ONCE AGAIN. It got so bad last night that he couldn't even open his left eye, and he was yelping in discomfort. Poor little doggie. It was funny, though, because as I was placing the cone over his head, he didn't fight it, he almost welcomed it. It was like Curly knew this was going to help him again.
