Does It Make You A Fool, When You Camp At Fools Hollow Lake?

Okay. We spent last weekend, which started on Thursday, in Eastern Arizona. More precisely, we camping in Show Low, at the Fools Hollow Lake Recreational State Park. That's a mouth full I tell ya! That's one beautiful campground, with a stunning lake. An interesting fact...there are remnants of a little town called Adair  (a Mormon early settlement). I guess there are still a few foundations of homes; charred remains of the old school house; and a couple of other foundations of places; farm tools; china; pottery...but what was really creepy...still to this day, are a few grave sites. Yep. Makes chills run up your spine...because you're not sure, exactly where this town is, beneath the waters of this lake.  We enjoyed staying at this campground...having campfires; taking walks and taking in Fools Hollow Lake. They rent out canoes and kayaks..but maybe we can look forward to that for next time. Friday and Saturday were full days. We headed up to the White Mountains and did what we do best...explore! We went through the Fort Apache of the White Mountains Reservation; and they have glorious land up there! We visited one of their lakes, Hawley Lake. Super clear blue water...so awesome! The White River also runs through their land, and let me tell you...that was bigger than we thought! Once off of the Apache's land...we visited more lakes...big lakes (yes, one of the lakes up on the mountains, was indeed called, Big Lake); streams; creeks; rivers...what the heck?! We checked out the Black River too, and that was stunning. I put my feet in the Little Colorado River as well...refreshing! We traveled up to the tallest point, Greens Peak, elevation 10,134 ft. The views we caught up there were breathtaking! Drove through Greer (we stayed there, in a little cabin, over eight years ago); drove through the adorable little towns, Pinetop and Lakeside. The town Show Low was super nice too! Elevation 6,300 ft. We fit right in there as well! The White Mountains offer so much beauty and exploration. We felt right at home over there, and it kind of reminded us, of different places we have visited, rolled into one...a bit of Colorado; the North Rim; a little bit of Wyoming (the high plains)...just amazing! Eastern Arizona was a pleasure to visit, and yes, we will be returning!
