HereI am finally updating the blog! We just got home from another camping trip. This time...we headed to Kingman, AZ.; and stayed at the KOA. Kingman is usually the "passing through" town; but we decided to actually stay there and explore the surrounding areas of Kingman. We arrived at our KOA on Friday afternoon (the convenience of having a destination within 120 miles). We got all set up and went to Laughlin. Why not? We hadn't been there since I was pregnant with Samantha. We spent a couple hours around there, and headed back to our trailer, to enjoy our first night at the campground. Very clean, and very nice people work at the KOA. We were very impressed, and we will definitely be returning! On Saturday, we woke up, got around, and our destination was North West Arizona, at Lake Mead's remote East end. It was so beautiful getting out there, and experiencing something new. We went through a massive Joshua Tree Forest along the way, called Grand Wash Cliffs; with the most extensive Joshua Tree Forest; so of course we had to take some pictures with them. We drove to Pierce Ferry, and checked out the Colorado river. This area USED to be part of the actual Lake Mead; but because of the drought, and lack of many years, of not enough snow; that lake is getting very low. Seeing the end of the Grand Canyon (with the Colorado River) was pretty cool, considering it was just a couple weeks ago when we were at the beginning of the Grand Canyon, at Lee's Ferry. After Pierce Ferry, we drove to Lake Mead. Where we were, it was so isolated. Very cool. The weather, by the way, was super nice. In the upper 50s/60s, which is a far cry from what we have been experiencing at home! On the route back home, we stopped in at an old mining town called, "Chloride." Established in the 1860s. I went to that town many years ago, but it was Jeff's and the kid's first time visiting. That is one funky, cute, little mining town. On Sunday we went Southeast, on the 93, to go see Burro Creek. Another super isolated area, but stunning! There is a campground down there, but it felt like we were all alone. In case you were wondering, Burro Creek was named after wild burros, that still range freely in the area. They are descendants from the burros that came here in the 1800s; for helping out with the mining operations, that occurred in the area. I think that is pretty cute. We would like to return to the Burro Creek area in the future, to explore the surrounding mines. It's what we do. We also took advantage of our KOA, by playing miniature golf (I won). We played ping pong (Jeff won), and air hockey (yes, I won again). It was nice to see Jeff get humbled, with losing. I say that because he is one competitive individual. We got home from the trip this afternoon. We sure did enjoy getting out of the cold! Onto the next!
P.S. The pictures downloaded backwards. Meaning, the end of the trip photos are first, and the beginning photos are last. If that doesn't bother you, then no worries. If that OCD in you NEEDS to see the pictures in order...well then, scroll to the bottom, and work your way up! Enjoy!
