Holla Lone Pine! Holla!!!!

We arrived to our Lone Pine, CA. destination, last night at 10:35 pm. Not too bad, considering we didn't leave until after two in the afternoon, and we had major wind going against us the whole way!

Today we headed up to Horseshoe Meadow, at an elevation of 10,000 ft. We like to get up there, and that is where Jeff placed a Taylor brand thermometer; "donated" from Walt's Hardware store, back in 1991, on a Lodge Pole Pine tree. Yes, it is still on that same tree today. He checked it out last July as well. He could see the lowest and highest temps reached, up in that meadow. This last year, it went from -19 degrees and the highest was 83 degrees. It amazes me that Jeff can even remember where he placed that thermometer! Amazing. So we hiked around up there, and drove around Owen's Valley, up to the point of Big Pine (today). I stopped in an antique store, an old 1910 yellow home, and I found a really cool HUGE wooden box. That box shipped Britannica Encyclopedias from 1936. The shipping label still on the box, and this baby is OLD and everything I love! That was my treasure that I found. We then came back to our trailer and BBQ hamburgers, with fresh fruit and potato chips. Now we are heading out to Whitney's Portal, for our evening drive. Tomorrow, we head up towards Bishop and more! This is a much needed break, and we are all enjoying it!
