Cock-A-Doodle-Do!!! You Have Got To Be Kidding.

It happened. What I really didn't want to happen, happened. My Lola (the white leghorn); is in deed, a male. He "crowed" this morning for the first time. It was actually a really cute crow, due to the fact that he is so young. So I would like to inform you all, that Lola is no more, but now we will call him, Marty. As long as Marty behaves himself, and he doesn't cause "attitude" drama, he will be welcome here. Otherwise...it is off to the dinner table Marty! I had already talked to him about it, this morning, when I took his pictures for the day. You can see he looks a little concerned, as he should. Fortunately, Marty isn't aggressive with me, and he will indeed hop up on my leg, when I am squatting down. Marty is definitely the leader of the flock! I have always noticed that from the beginning. So it is true. I really wish you all could have heard his first crow. It was gosh darn cute! At first, I was thinking, what kind of noise was that (because he did it inside the coop). Then Marty stepped out on the ramp, buffed up his shoulders and stuck out his little chest, and he crowed again. A little scratchy, and a little inexperienced, but I am sure he will have his crow down in no time. The day, in the life, of a chicken Mama. Good times.
