Here I am posting about our past weekend getaway. We took the kids, and the dog, and headed back down to Tombstone! We left our house on Thursday afternoon, and returned home Sunday afternoon. I booked us at Katie's Cozy Cabins, because Jeff and I had such a wonderful time staying there, last month for our anniversary; plus...we knew the kids would love the little cabin, with the bunk beds and all! We showed the kids the town of Tombstone, and they loved it all! Kent and Samantha are so our children. We did a lot of exploring around the outskirts of Tombstone, this time as well, and saw many great things. We did go back to that little ghost town, Fairbank, which Jeff and I only had a few minutes there last month; where we stopped on our way back home. So this time we took a half mile walk, along the old railroad grade, to Fairbank's cemetery. Talk about an old cemetery...wow. There were lots of graves, all being taken over by trees and shrubs; and there were seriously only about three graves, that we could barely read...all others, time has taken it's toll on. Beautiful, old weathered crosses lay above the grave sites...it was stunning to see, this place of rest, on top of a hill, for the people of Fairbank. By the time we were walking to and back from the cemetery, we had walked a mile, and completely wore out Curly! He was exhausted, and passed out in the car! We then headed out to our new favorite place in Southeastern Arizona...Sonoita/Elgin. Also known as Arizona's wine country. So we indeed stopped at the oldest running winery in Arizona...Sonoita Vineyards. You talk about stunning country...it is there. We stopped in at the winery, and had a small tasting, and purchased a bottle of wine for me, and one for Jeff. The BEST WINE I HAVE EVER TASTED. We saved our bottles of wine, for when we came home...and I am still enjoying a glass a night, until it is all gone. We went to Patagonia, Nogalas (just to see the border town of course). That place is Mexico! Jeff took a picture of the border fence (what we like to see)! On Saturday we took a longer drive out to Wilcox, and Safford, to make a trip up to Mount Graham. One of the prettiest mountain ranges, and a surprise to see, being so far South! Jeff said that was his highlight of the whole trip! He loves the trees :o) So we were kind of everywhere down in Southeastern Arizona, and loved every minute of it! My last photo is of my new hand painted sign, on some awesome wood! This sign we are keeping! It looks great in our dining room!
