A Fire...A Visit...A Blessed Weekend.

We had a fantastic weekend with Dad and Mom Stafford. They arrived on Friday, late afternoon, and headed home this morning. We always love having them over. Our weekend did start, however, with sadness for our Park's community. Friday night, our Park's Mercantile store, caught fire. We all heard the sirens, but had no idea it was coming from our store. It was a total loss inside. An electrical fire, that may have started in the attic of the building (that's the latest report). The building is made out of concrete block, and a metal roof, so in that sense, the whole building didn't burn down...but the inside...ugh. As most of you know, we also get our mail there, and that post office is historical. Amazingly, the fronts of the post office doors, where we pick up our mail, are still intact. I am hoping they can still be used, when ever the store gets rebuilt inside. So now our store is closed, the gas pumps shut down, and our community is coming together with offerings to do what ever is necessary, to help get our store back in action. Today was the first day we could get our mail, and it is being available, in the back barn, behind the mercantile. At least that building didn't go up in flames! Jeez. Saturday, the guys steamed up, and we all got to have our train rides; then Mom, Samantha and I went out to eat and shopping for the day. Saturday evening we went out to our Cracker Barrel. Sunday we spent the day at the house, visiting, steaming up the engine again; and then we drove down to Sedona, to go have our Mexican food at our favorite Mexican restaurant, Oaxaca. The weather, by the way, was perfect all weekend! We couldn't have asked for better weather. Our drive through Oak Creek Canyon was stunning and relaxing. We all get along so well, and enjoy each other's company. Even though we had that devastating fire occur, at our Park's store...we did have a blessed weekend with family.
