A Completed "1881 Engine Co." Building

This weekend was my job, to complete Jeff's engine building. I went to Home Depot on Friday, to get the paint and supplies. Saturday I went after it! The color is called "Cinnamon Stick." I chose it (and Jeff agreed with it), after seeing "The Oriental" building, in the film, Tombstone. It was a perfect choice! So when you see the movie, look at "The Oriental" building, and that was our paint color inspiration. It took all day to paint...literally seven hours. It was in the tiny details around the edges and hardware; and lets not forget the wording on the false front. That was painted by hand, no tracing, or painting over pencil. No sir. All by hand. I just jump right in when I paint. It was so hard painting "1881 ENGINE CO." I was leaning over, and hands shake...so it isn't perfect, but it looks great anyway! I discovered this font, and it was used in the 1880s western towns. The last detail we added to that good lookin' building...these cafe style, patio lights. We bought a strand for our deck, and knew we needed them for this building as well. Lets just say...it finishes it beautifully, and lit up at night, is so cozy to see! It does look like a little town, with a couple of buildings, thus far. Jeff and I worked hard on this, and now we really appreciate it. Husband and wife team...oh yeah. We got this.
