Hello Mr. Elk.

"Our" elk was back yesterday. He is getting bigger and more handsome. He just stopped and looked at us. I wasn't far from him at all; so yes, this is the true distance...no zooming in. He then walked back down our hill, and wandered off our property. I am sure he wanted to go to our pond, but we caught him; so he moved on (for now).
