Bass Lake and Yosemite, CA.

When we decided to head up to Yosemite, I immediately searched online for lodging. I located a place called Bass Lake, CA., and a place called "The Forks Resort." It is a family run business for four generations now, and they have cabins to stay for a couple nights or weeks at a time. Beautiful! So I booked us a cabin duplex, a one bedroom with two queen beds, a bathroom, living/dining room and a full kitchen. A huge deck over looking the pines and Bass Lake. It was very reasonably priced as well. The Forks resort offers a marina, gift shop, little market and a small restaurant/diner that offers their killer famous "Forks" burgers. This place was heaven and I was ready to move in! I told Jeff we need to come back and enjoy more of the lake, like rent a boat or something. A nice trivial fact, Bass Lake is where they filmed "The Great Outdoors" with the late John Candy. That movie is a classic and you can see why they chose Bass Lake for filming. Awesome! It is 15 miles from the Yosemite entrance and about 50 miles to the valley. Not too bad. So I recommend anyone heading up in that direction, to stay at The Forks Resort! Now Yosemite was breath taking! We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. The temperature wasn't too hot, there were thunderclouds above and some light rain. The water falls were just over flowing with all of that snow up in the Sierras...still so much! So it was a treat to see water flowing everywhere and everything so green and lush! My first time in Yosemite valley was a great experience :-) Next stop...the gold country!
