Picacho Peak State Park

When we left "Lost Dutchman" yesterday, we took a very scenic route, to get to "Picacho Peak." We went through little depressed mining towns, a mining operation still working to this day (the picture with the massive trucks), we passed a copper railroad for one of the mines, passed the Gila River (full of water), and just stunning desert landscape.  We arrived yesterday afternoon at "Picacho Peak State Park," and have enjoyed our stay. Last night we BBQ steak and had rice. We do our evening walks, taking in the scenery, etc. Today was a big day, going to the "Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum." Jeff and I went there years ago, and this was the first time the kiddos got to go. That place is awesome and I give it four "Stafford Stars," as a must see place to visit. So get up off your quester, and go there! My favorite part was seeing the aquarium and the river otters. I could watch the otters swim all day long! Those things a so freaking cute! Kent's favorite part was seeing the snakes, tarantulas, and walking through the cave. Samantha loved the otters too. Jeff enjoyed the cactus gardens. It was very busy, but very enjoyable. We all got some sun today too! First of the season. We had lunch at one of the cafes, and later in the hot day, we had grabbed some ice cream! After our day at the Desert Museum, we took a sceneic drive through "Saguaro National Park." The amount of saguaros there, are crazy beautiful! When it was time to come back to the trailer, I cooked us some cheese enchiladas for dinner. Another walk, kids showered and cleaned, and now, Jeff and I are sitting by the fire, taking in this desert evening. Tomorrow we head out at 12:00, and drive to our next destination..."Patagonia Lake State Park."
