Have You Found The Lost Dutchman?
We arrived at the "Lost Dutchman State Park," Friday night, and stayed two nights. Jeff took us to the "Goldfield Ghost Town," across from the state park. We took a narrow gauge train ride, around the Goldfield property, and with the amazing backdrop, that are the Superstition Mountains. This is some stunning desert here. After our little jaunt through the Goldfield, we took the old stage coach line, and Apache Indian route, where the white man was brutally killed, currently called, "The Apache Trail." We took it up to Roosevelt Dam/Lake, and passed Canyon Lake, then Apache Lake, and lastly, Roosevelt Lake. All lakes give Phoenix their water, thanks to the Salt River flowing through that area. Came back to our campground, BBQ hamburgers, then took a sunset hike, towards the Superstition Mountains. Today, we leave here at 12:00, and head to our next destination..."Picacho Peak State Park."
