We had our Wickenburg camping weekend, and it was fantastic. We got down there Friday afternoon, and found a perfect spot in the desert, looking right smack at the Vulture Peak. We brought our generator to use our Keurig coffee maker, for coffee in the morning, and we used it to charge our battery (very useful machine). The first night I cooked us up some BBQ chicken and rice. We used our portable charcoal grill, and I cooked the rice inside our trailer, on our stove top. Dinner was tasty good, and we were all quiet and enjoying it. The kids ate everything! Friday night we had a fire, sitting by the toasty flames, surrounded by the darkness of the night desert. Bliss. Saturday morning I cooked us up some bacon and eggs for breakfast, and we had our coffee...morning sunrise in the desert...peace. We then got ready and started our day. We found an old wind mill and cattle area, which we feel in love with. What history, and what a perfect lot! Then we drove into town. Jeff let me check out a couple of shops, and that was fun. Next up...we drove thru Dunkin Donuts for some coffee, and what else, a chocolate frosted donut for all of us. Oh my heaven! I can't remember the last time I had a Dunkin Donut! So soft and sweet, YUUUUMMMMMM. We enjoyed those while on a mission to find an old mining town called Constellation. We went off on a dirt road for a while, winding up in the foothills, to back down in a little canyon. We had found Constellation! Those are the rock ruins, that were once buildings. That stuff is awesome, and it is crazt where they build these buildings and start to mine. IN THE MIDDLE OF FREAKING NO WHERE, but absolutely stunning and peaceful. Further down the Constellation road, we encountered a working mine called Monte Crisco. That was crazy to see. It is as old as can be, but with this gold rush fever, thanks to the price of gold, it is being mined back there again. We spotted tons of claims out there, and people were indeed working them. Saturday night we went out to a Mexican restaurant...and back to the site for another campfire. We got back home yesterday afternoon...loved our weekend away.
