A Long Post All About Our Bathrooms!
I finally took the pictures of our guest bathroom, and our master bathroom. Our master bathroom, I would still like to add things to the walls, and I have extra fabric (that is draped under the green sewing machine, to the right); to use for little curtains for the small windows in the bathroom. The guest bathroom was easy to put together, as compared with our master! It was a nightmare! That sink vanity was not our first choice. We originally bought a hickory vanity, with drawers, but those drawers interfered with the lining up of the bathroom pipes. So we had to return it at the Home Depot on the West side of Flagstaff. Then we checked out Ace Hardware (nothing worth buying); and then we headed over to the East Home Depot. Yes, Flagstaff has TWO Home Depots. I don't know why. I wish we had a Loews. The East Home Depot is where we found this beautiful sink/vanity. Sold! Now I had purchased the distressed green sewing machine cabinet, at an antique store in Crestline. I had it in my mind that I would put it in our bathroom...and it works! But, alas, we still had 24 inches wide on the other side of the cabinet to fill. So after a difficult installation with the sink/vanity (remember the original cabinets and sink were super short) so we had a time trying to reconnect to the new "higher" faucets! Jeff did it though! I wasn't completely happy yet, due to the void on the other side. So Jeff said lets roll back into Flag, so I may purchase my fabric and to find a cabinet, or dresser, SOMETHING that would work. We were all over Flagstaff...FIRST, we went to Bed, Bath and Beyond. No such luck, that stuff was narrow and looked like a college dorm. SECOND, Pier One Imports. Again, too narrow and very expensive. THIRD, Target, more college look to that stuff. Then I was thinking maybe Cost Plus, World Market, but they would probably have the same "narrow" items and for more money than they would be worth. So...we were thinking of maybe, a used furniture store. Along route 66, going East in Flag...there it was. Not the furniture store (that went out of business); BUT AN ANTIQUE STORE! All the years I have lived out here, I never stopped there. This place is awesome! I remember Mom and Dad Stafford said they shopped there, and found a neat old dresser, that they converted to their bathroom sink/vanity. This is a treasure stop for sure! It wasn't too long when Jeff and I spotted the old, oak wood cabinet with an old brass knob. It was a good price and a deep cabinet. I loved it and so did Jeff. We realized it was wider that 24 inches (it was 26), but Jeff said he could trim it to fit. Oh, we will make it fit all right! That's what he did. He got the saw, and trimmed off the wood, and pulled off two lower side boards, and whola! It works! Jeff is so freaking amazing! I would be lost with out him. He is the handiest of the handies! So there you all have it...the bathroom story! It was a journey...but Jeff and I did it TOGETHER!
