After Jeff got home from work Friday late afternoon; we had some dinner at the house and headed on the road. We didn't get to our campsite, at the Durango Riverside RV Resort, until just after midnight. We were pooped! The next morning we had our Keurig K-Cup coffee (but of course), and planned the day. We took the drive up to Silverton, CO. and took in the scenic view. It is on the edge of summer/fall. Tress were already starting to change! I was getting pretty excited! We had the most beautiful weather all weekend long; with that "golden" sun glow in the day. We had our lunch at the "Shady Lady" restaurant. Nothing like an old whore house to make things right (hahaha). The steam engine was right next to the restaurant windows, so a major plus for the Law-Dog. We ended up back down in Durango for our dinner, at a Mexican restaurant. The town was pretty crazy busy, not just because of Labor Day weekend, but for a biker rally as well. Yesterday we did our big drive. First stop though...HONEYVILLE! I have always wanted to go there for years, and finally we did! It is the cutest little shop and you can actually see bees make their honey. The production room was within view as well (where they fill the jars and bottles of their honey; but production wasn't happening on a Sunday). I did but a jar of honey and a jar of their apple butter. I plan on ordering more products online...like their cinnamon whipped honey spread! I should have bought that when I was there! After that fun stop...we drove on to Telluride. Going through Ouray, and Ridgeway, and some of the most beautiful country imaginable. I got camera happy! We visited the bluest/green water of Trout Lake. It is like Kauai waters. Drove on an old grade for a while, encountered a water tank, an old trestle that is in amazing shape...Lizard Head pass (that is the picture where the peak of a mountain looks like a what? That's right, a lizard's head. We just had many drives and the best time. Dinner last night was in Ouray at a bar and grill. We shared a pizza. Yum! We had campfires both evenings, and took in the great freedom of our weekend. Ahh. But now we are home, safe and sound :o)
